Michelin Primacy 3
WatchThe Michelin Primacy 3 is a premium summer touring tyre built around comfort, refinement and dependable everyday security rather than sporty sharpness. Across both driver feedback and independent tests it stands out for quiet cruising, stable dry-road manners and strong efficiency, often delivering excellent mileage. Its main trade-offs are a softer, less precise steering feel and more mixed results in the wet, especially in standing water and higher-demand handling tests.

Ask a questiontrying to find the treadwear rating printed on the sidewall of Michelin primacy 3 and continental sportcontact 3 and 5. This is my deciding factor on these tyres 235/50 R17 96 Y or W for my Jaguar s type 2004 3.0. What is the difference between 100V and 104V XL please?
I have a budget tyre and a Michelin primacy on the same axle. Should I change the budget tyre?
What are some good alternatives to the tyre. I need to get the front 2 replaced but was hoping for cheaper than £300.
Review Summary
Based on 160 user reviews
Drivers describe the Michelin Primacy 3 as a comfortable, commuter-focused touring tyre with strong dry-road manners and generally stable, confidence-inspiring everyday grip. Many high-scoring reviews praise its low noise and long tread life, often reporting very high mileages when used on typical family cars and motorway driving. However, a meaningful minority report weak wet performance (especially aquaplaning/standing water) and a vague, soft sidewall feel that dulls steering precision. Wear is mixed: while many achieve excellent longevity, others-especially on heavier or higher-torque cars-report faster-than-expected tread wear, alongside frequent complaints about premium pricing.
Strengths
- Comfortable ride quality
- Low road noise/quiet cruising
- Strong dry grip and stable handling for a touring tyre
- Good wet grip and wet braking for many drivers
- Often strong tread life/long mileage (depending on vehicle/use)
Areas for Improvement
- Wet performance can be disappointing for some
- With aquaplaning/standing-water grip concerns
- Tread wear can be faster than expected on some vehicles (especially heavy/high-torque)
- Vague/soft steering feel and reduced road feedback (imprecise handling)
- Can be noisy on some cars/road surfaces
- Especially as tread wears
- High purchase price/value concerns

smooth, and the biggest one for me was quiet, and decent handling. The car is a 7 series, so not aiming for the sporty handling, needed it to be smooth and quiet over anything else.
Going to give the Primacy4 a go for the next change, but been extreamly happy with the Primacy 3's/

Such a pathetic response and leaving customer in between without supporting and looking into their bad quality product. What they replied is that i should better buy new tires of other make and since they will and wont support with replacement or reimbursement.
Asked them to submit report and in written then its more that 80 hours and yet to receive feedback. I have been chasing continuously but of no help.
If anyone can guide please help. I have spent 54K on these tires just a year back.
