Questions and Answers for the Michelin Energy XM2
Ask a questionReview Summary
Based on 51 user reviews
Across reviews, the Michelin Energy XM2 is most often described as a long-lasting, dependable daily-driving tyre with strong tread life and generally confident dry and wet grip/braking, especially when new. Many drivers also report good durability on rough roads and solid value in terms of kilometres achieved, with some noting improved fuel economy. The most frequent downsides are elevated road noise (often getting louder with wear) and a firmer/harsh ride for some vehicles, plus a noticeable drop-off in wet traction/handling as the tyre nears end of life. A recurring secondary complaint is premium pricing versus competing touring tyres.
Strengths
- Excellent tread life/slow wear and long service mileage
- Good wet and dry grip/braking for normal daily driving (particularly when new)
- Durable on poor/rough roads; generally robust construction
- Comfortable touring ride for many users
- Some report improved fuel economy/low rolling resistance
Areas for Improvement
- Road noise is a common complaint and often increases noticeably as the tyre wears
- Ride can feel harsh/bumpy with too much road feedback on some cars
- Wet grip/handling can deteriorate significantly toward end of life; not ideal for sporty driving
- Expensive compared with alternatives
Top 3 Michelin Energy XM2 Reviews
Wet performance is absolutely outstanding. In the wet, even in a high torque rear wheel drive vehicle with little weight in the back, it still drives like its on rails
Driven in the snow with them too, and for a summer tyre, they were pretty good.
We usually get about 60k kms out of them before they have about 3mm of tread left, where we replace our tyre. We've had Energy XM2's on this car twice, and probably 3 times on the commodore.

With weight added, the sidewalls stayed true to their form both low and Hiway speeds.
I've had theses tyres for six years and so happy with them.
