Michelin Alpin 6
WatchThe Michelin Alpin 6 is a premium touring winter tyre that prioritises confidence and longevity in typical Central-European winter conditions. It earns consistent praise for secure wet-road grip and stability, with a comfortable, refined motorway demeanour. Both drivers and independent tests highlight outstanding tread life and slow, even wear, making it a dependable long-term choice for mixed cold, wet and dry weather. Its main caveat is that outright snow and ice performance can be merely average versus the very best winter tyres, especially when conditions turn deeper or more polished.

Review Summary
Based on 30 user reviews
Across 30 reviews, the Michelin Alpin 6 is most often praised for strong dry and especially wet-road grip, high comfort, and generally low noise, with many drivers highlighting excellent longevity and slow wear over multiple seasons. Most users describe it as a confidence-inspiring winter tyre for cold, wet, and highway driving. The main recurring complaint is that snow and ice performance can be only average (and for some, notably weak in braking/traction and lateral stability), making it feel better suited to mild winters than frequent deep-snow conditions.
Strengths
- Strong wet grip and wet-road stability (including aquaplaning resistance)
- Good dry/cold grip and confident roadholding
- High comfort/ride quality
- Long tread life / excellent wear resistance
- Generally low noise levels
Areas for Improvement
- Mixed to weak snow/ice performance for a notable share of drivers (traction/braking/lateral stability)
- Better suited to mild-winter conditions

However, just after 2 winters and 10kkm, ice grip was quite bad, car would just slip on ice. Compared to 5 yeras old hankook winter icept2 on other car, i felt a little disappointed with Michelins.
Average tyre, nothing bad, nothing significant, worked enough even for summer months in +30*C.
Not as noisy as expected by the shape of a tread pattern. I guess phase sequencing helped a lot.
Maybe rubber was old enough, so snow/ice/wet performance started to degrade and were not as best as it could.
Threw away with still 5-6 mm left.

On the other hand, the tyre really disappointed on snow covered roads. We live in the mountains and when the roads are covered with snow, the tyre loses traction very easily uphill.
So, the tyre is really great if you live in areas that don't see a lot of snow.
On the other hand, I'm very disappointed of the snow and ice handling and traction.
Wear is really good after 6 seasons they still have tread for another one, although if there is a lot of snow coming, really consider dumping them
Michelin Alpin 6 is not a winter tyre! It's a all weather tyre(it has almost the same tread as Michelin Crossclimate 2), nothing more. I will never buy them again. They are very dangerous on the snow. I'm not joking, I'm not trolling. I'm trying to save your life. Buy something else.
