Questions and Answers for the Landsail LS388 AS
Ask a question
April 24, 2025
Are ls388 directional tires? If so, where to locate the markers?
The LS388 AS has an asymmetric tread pattern so it should have clear inside and outside markings on the sidewalls. If it does not it can be mounted in any orientation.
Review Summary
Based on 47 user reviews
Drivers' opinions on the Landsail LS388 AS are mixed overall. Many praise its quiet ride, good value, and adequate grip and comfort for everyday driving, with several noting surprisingly solid wet performance for the price. However, a significant minority report weak wet traction (especially at lower temperatures) and notable quality issues such as air leaks, pressure loss, or sidewall failures; performance in snow/winter is widely regarded as poor. It suits sensible, budget-minded driving but has limitations if pushed or used in harsher conditions.
Strengths
- Quiet ride
- Good value for money
- Comfortable ride
- Adequate dry and wet grip for normal driving
- Predictable handling
Areas for Improvement
- Poor wet traction and wheelspin for some users
- Quality concerns (air leaks
- Sidewall/structural failures)
- Very poor snow/winter performance

Fitted these new on a 14 plate Picanto a few years back, thought they were fairly decent. Stuck some part worn LS388's on my old Volvo S80, so its a heavy thing; these tyres are pretty decent, soak up imperfections in the road and handle well, so wouldn't mind sticking a new set of these on it in the future. Road feedback is 'meh' but wasn't expecting it to transform the ride.
If you have realistic expectations, obviously these tyres aren't going to inspire confidence if you drive like a b*llend, decent traction for sensible driving; when it rains, use your common sense and slow down and you won't be caught out. Seen a review on here the owner of a Fiat 124 Spider fitted these onto it, and was suprised the traction isn't as good as tyres that a 'sports car' should be fitted with like Michelins? Cheapskate. But yeah, cheap tyres, use your common sense and they'll be fine.

Most of the miles so far have been in warmer spring/summer/autumn weather. While not being very quiet or comfortable they do grip reasonably well. The last few weeks have been significantly colder and wetter meaning the driving experience hasn't been so great. Wheelspin/traction control is a regular occurence leaving junctions at moderate throttle and the overall feeling on these tyres doesn't give a lot of confidence

These tyres were already on my car when I purchased it. Initially I thought they were OK but as I put more miles on my car the problems started to show. In the dry the tyre handles ok at best however there is very minimal feedback through the steering wheel. I found the wheels spinning more often than not when pulling away from a set of traffic lights and I'm not an aggressive driver by any means. In the wet these problems are heightened. Trying the get the tyres to grip when pulling away is virtually impossible, and there is absolutely no feel at all in those weather conditions. The only scenario I can think of where these tyres would be usable is motorway/highway driving as they are decently quiet. Overall I would reccomend steering clear of this tyre if you can.

Got 4 tyres to replace my factory fitted Bridgestones, was a bit doubtful of these landsail 388 tyres after reading some of the reviews, but the tyre fitter was positive. And he was right perfect for my type of driving.

These tyres are the best tyre I´ve bought, they are rather quiet. I used a set for 5 years, driving 50km a´day.
They retained their characteristics throughout its lifespan.

First, why this tyres is ratet as All Season and why has M+S marks on it ? Because this is deffinetly a summer tyre without any winter quality...
But, in dry, summer, any other condition without winter, is a very good tyres, comfortable, slightly sticky and the wear is very good.

Although every review says these are quiet tyres, mine are the loudest I’ve ever had. You can’t hear yourself think when on a motorway

These tyres were on my Skoda Octavia when I bought it. These are the worst tyres I have ever experienced, they are useable in the dry but don't give any feedback. In the wet there is very little grip, no feedback and aquaplanes in the smallest amount of standing water. In the recent snow there was absolutely zero grip, which was the final straw and I have changed the tyres to Michelin which are 100x better.

Had 4 of these fitted within a few months of each other, tpms light came on on the motorway, stopped as soon as possible to find no air would go in the tyre, changed for space saver to discover the side wall had come away from the cord inner side wall, 2 months later exactly the same issue again, 2 months after that car fails mot because of guess what, yep inner side walls both showing cords how on earth i never had a blow out with all 4 tyres like this i'll never know, unsurprisingly i would not recommend or buy these tyres again

Have these tires fitted to car a while ago.
After 4000 miles the tire had a blowout not to mention the cracking and what felt like the tires no longer being round anymore.
If you value your life and safety please consider a better tyre.

Had LS388s on my used car for nearly a year, they handle perfectly well in all weather, and at no point have I felt that they'd lost traction or had any problems with them. As my car isn't very fast I cannot speak for higher end vehicles. But on my Yaris they have been brilliant.
The tread lasts a very long time.

Driving Ford Kuga. Bought these because of price and sound. Original tyres noisy. LS388 very quiet. Surprisingly no problems att all on wet rainy roads. Very good grip overall. I should probably use LS588 on this car but I feel quite comfortable with LS388 instead. For off road or 99% gravel road I would probably choose something else.

I like it in general. BUT, they keep leaking I have to inflate them every 10 days, I am 100% sure there is no puncture and have been re-fitted 4 times by 4 different garages, the alloy wheels are new. I am not the only person complaining the leaking problem.
