Passenger Car Winter Touring Tyres Tyre Review Highlights
Tigar Winter 1 — rated 38%
while driving a Fiat 500 for 4000 miles
Although sometimes Tigar tires are a decent budget purchases, this particular blend is problematic, since I was unable to notice any benefits of this tire, except the wear seems to be very low. It tends to track along road undulations made by trucks very heavily and has sudden loss of grip on low temperature surfaces, seemingly with no ice.
It seems to me like one of those compliance tires, made to fulfill the regulatory requirement for winter tires.

Uniroyal MS+ 77 — rated 70%
while driving a Toyota Prius for 12500 miles
My used car came with these tyres, I used them for 2 winter seasons, not sure how much it was used before but they lasted well during this time. I replaced them with the newer Uniroyal Winterexpert due to aging. This tyre is rather noisy, anywhere above 50 kmh tyre noise is constant. I was very satisfied with dry and wet performance, you can rely on it in snow conditions as well, but on ice it was very slippery, gave me almost zero confidence. Fuel economy was okay, as this is a lower rolling resistance tyre. Unfortunately it is no longer available in my country.

Dayton DW 510 Evo — rated 91%
while driving a Fiat Uno Hatchback (146) for 47000 miles
It was very good and strong tyre. Btter than other economic tyres. Wet and snow handling was so good.

Fulda Kristall Montero 3 — rated 19%
while driving a Mercedes Benz Mercedes A180 W169 for 800 miles
Bought with older DOT (2 years) . Drove 3 months , above 5 degrees, they provide sufficient grip. But once temps drop below 5 degrees its over , most scarry tire ,that i've ever driven (its like driving plastic tyre, even on straight line the cross winds activate the ESP!!!!) ,sold immidiately and checked the car, thought it was ESP problem, but turns out car is OK, even rolling back to 7 year older mid class Gislaved.Never again.

Initial thoughts are these are a decent budget tyre, gripped fine in the snow and slush over the weekend and were decent enough in the rain today. Can’t fault them for the price.

Initial impressions on the tyre are very good especially wet, snowy and icy grip performance. I happened to use the tyre in a heavy snowstorm with snow reaching up to 10-20 cms. The tyre managed to do well in these conditions.

One of my worst experiences is with these winter tires. They have no grip in rain or snow, I just slide around, but we hardly slow down at all. Even in dry conditions, they are one of the worst winter tires I have ever used. I have them on my company car, I would never buy them for private use, and our company avoids this brand because of complaints from others. They are not much cheaper than tires from better-known tire manufacturers, and a few euros could save lives. Everyone who has driven and used them so far has complained about them!
Please, if your life is important to you, don't buy this tire. Its only advantage is that it's comfortable.

Never tried them on snow or ice but on wet... god damn its bad. Rear is sliding on roundabout at 40km/h. There are more than 5mm left when I throw them away. Didnt buy those, they were on the car. Not anymore :)

I bought the tires before going to the mountains with not much expectation. But there was a lot of snow on the mountain that the snowplow couldn't clear as much as it was falling. The car went through the snowdrifts without even turning on the traction control. After a few days, the sensor froze, which turned off my front floor, but I also went down through the snowdrifts to the first car wash without any problems.

Viking WinTech NewGen — rated 80%
while driving a Mercedes Benz E350 CDI Coupé 231hp for 2000 miles
I had the option to buy Laufenn I-Fit Plus or this tyre due to premium winter tyres being double the price, so I bought 4 new Vikings at a price of 110 Euros/tyre with mounting included. Had some premium all-season options in the same price range also but with the car being RWD with 540Nm of torque I wanted to be sure that I get the best shot at snowy/icy roads, although in my region winters aren't usually that harsh anymore. Also, I saw that this is a newer tyre without reviews, so the inner tyre geek came out.
- Dry: Feels neutral, there isn't much feedback but you can just about feel where the wheels are pointing. Once you build up a bit of confidence it feels fine, it never felt dangerous even with sportier driving. Braking is solid.
- Wet: It felt decent, aquaplaning resistance was good, safe enough for motorway speeds. It felt a bit worse laterally, maybe a bit oversteery, but again, within safe limits at legal motorway speeds. Braking is solid as well, not extraordinary but safe and dependable.
- Snow: In light snow, it felt similar to wet conditions. Had the opportunity to drive on heavily snowing highway conditions (with light snow layers forming on lane 1 and about a 10cm layer on lane 2), I was very impressed with the grip. ESP never kicked in, changing lanes to overtake very slow cars was very safe, overall I was really happy with the performance in such challenging conditions. Also went for a ride towards a ski resort, and I am happy to report that grip on steep, snow-covered roads was good as well. Laterally it felt very safe, braking performance was great also, with ABS never kicking in when coming back down. In thicker snow it felt safe also, had 0 traction issues and the balance felt very neutral on both fresh and compacted snow. From a standstill and a blanket of 40cm of snow that fell overnight, I was, again, really happy with the tyres, I got stuck only due to build-up under the car, and even then, I was able to reverse out easily and then get over a layer that passed the bumper easily.
- Ice: Didn't have much opportunity on proper ice, but on light glazed frost on national roads it was within safe limits once again. I will make sure to update if I encounter any serious icy conditions.
- Misc: Nothing out of the ordinary in terms of noise, maybe a bit less comfortable than my Firestone Roadhawk 2 summer tyres, but there is not much in it to be honest. Rim protection exists, but is quite narrow. Fuel consumption is a bit higher than the summer tyre but this is the case for all winter tyres. I have driven in temps ranging from -12C to 10C on Eastern-European roads.

I highly recommend the tyre for more budget-conscious motorists, more than mid-range in the snow and mid-range in dry-wet conditions. Not the best, obviously, but certainly doesn't feel like corners have been cut in any significant area to reduce the price. A massive step up from budget tyres for sure.
