Tyre Reviews Summer Tyre Tests

These four tyres might be the fastest track-focused, street-legal tyres you can buy in both Europe and North America right now. The Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS, the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R, the Bridgestone Potenza Race, and the Vitour Tempesta P1 Plus - all tested on a VW Golf GTI Clubsport in 235/35 R19.

In this test I will finally compare the new Hoosier TrackAttack Pro to the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R and the Bridgestone Potenza RE71RS on a track AND autocross course.

There's a new tyre on the market aiming to be the best of the best performance summer tyres. The Pirelli P Zero PZ5 is designed to take on the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S, Continental SportContact 7, Bridgestone Potenza Sport, Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 and more, but can the latest UUHP summer tyre on the market really move the game on in both handling AND grip? There's only one way to find out - testing!

To find out if the new PZ5 is as good as Pirelli claim, I have tested it against all the tyres mentioned above, and the Falken Azenis FK520 and a budget tyre. I've put all seven sets of tyres through dry and wet testing, and I've looked into the noise, comfort and rolling resistance levels of each set of tyres to ensure you have all the information needed to make the correct purchase decision. 

There's a new comfort bias summer tyre to market, the Pirelli Cinturato C3! To see how good the new tyre really is, I've tested it against some of its key rivals from Michelin and Continental. I've also added some new tyres I've not tested before. 

As usual, all the tyres in this test will be tested in the dry and wet, and I'll be assessing the comfort, noise, and rolling resistance (energy use) of the tyres to give you a complete overview of which tyre is best.

For enthusiastic drivers subjective handling, as in how this tyre reacts to steering, how balanced the tyre is, and how much ability you have to adjust things mid-corner, is often more important than outright grip. In this test I take eight of the very best ultra ultra high performance summer tyres and put them through my usual array of dry, wet, noise, comfort, and rolling resistance testing but with a heavy focus on subjective handling to find out which tyre will make you feel the happiest when driving!

For the first of three tyre review summer tyre tests this year, I've tested 12 sets of tyres in 225/45/17 using a Volkswagen Golf GTI. 

All 12 sets of tyres were purchased in the open market anonymously. As always, they have been tested in the dry, wet, noise, comfort, and rolling resistance tests to find out exactly which tyre is best for your own driving needs. 

In the world of high-performance tyres, Hoosier has long been a name synonymous with speed and grip. Recently, we had the opportunity to put three of their top offerings to the test at the BMW driving school, using an M4 GT4 race car as our platform. The tyres in question? The Hoosier R7, a medium compound Hoosier slick, and the new Hoosier Track Attack Pro. Each brought its own unique characteristics to the track, and the results were nothing short of impressive.

We recently tested three of Bridgestone's highest performance tyres back-to-back on track and road: the Potenza Sport, the new Potenza Race, and the track-focused RE71 RS. Testing was conducted on a Honda Civic SI in temperatures reaching 95°F (35°C).

This is the most in depth tyre test Tyre Reviews has ever performed! This UHP summer tyre test will compare six of the very best ultra high performance tyres, and including a full wear test, some cooler temperature testing, and worn state testing!

On test we have the latest and greatest 18" sports tyres from Bridgestone, Continental, Goodyear, Hankook, Michelin and Yokohama. As usual we'll be covering every aspect of the tyres performance, including the wet performance, dry grip, internal noise, comfort, rolling resistance and the all important wear!

Times are hard, and now more so than ever people are asking me what the best budget tyre they can buy is. As these have never been tested against each other properly, I usually don't have an answer, but all that is about to change!

Sadly I've not been able to test every budget available, there are literally hundreds of tyre brands coming out of the far east, most of them from just a handful of factories. In fact, I've got over 300 tyre brands on the tyre reviews website, and as much as I love big tests, even that's too much for me.

Instead, I've bought eight of the most common and cheapest tyres available I could find, and because I've never tested a retread tyre, I bought one of those too. Naturally they'll all be going through a full tyre reviews tyre test to see which is best.

In this test, we'll be finding out what the best premium touring summer tyres on the market are!

I'm going to try and keep this as condensed as I possibly can as we have 13 sets of tyres in this test including the newest and best from Continental, Michelin, Hankook, Pirelli, Bridgestone, Vredestein, Kumho, Toyo, Nankang and more! This should also be the world's first test of the Continental PremiumContact 7!

It doesn't take much to make me happy, but a Chevrolet Camaro SS 1LE at Nelson Ledges with five sets of tyres ranging from treadwear 300 to treadwear 100... well that's a very easy place to be happy.

The reason for this test was to see if a lower treadwear value, which is a number the American Uniform Tire Quality Grade (UTQG) standards body assign to a tyre based on a basic wear test, really does mean more grip, but it turned out to be a fascinating insight into some of the big hitting tyres used on track in North America.

Racing slick tyres are used by some of the fastest cars in the world, but just how much faster is a slick tyre when compared to a track day tyre, or even a normal ultra high performance road tyre on a regular road car?

The Michelin Pilot Sport 5 is new to market, but so is its main rival, the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6!
