2022 ADAC SUV Winter Tyre Test - 215/60 R16

The results below are for the 215/60 R16 test, where we have a few interesting quirks in the overall results. 

As usual, Continental, Goodyear, and Michelin were at the front of the test, but this time joined by Dunlop, Goodyears sub-brand. The new Yokohama Blue Earth Winter V906 performed well, the Bridgestone LM005 proves to be the best in the dry and wet, and have the lowest fuel consumption as usual, and the Vredestein Wintrac performed better in the 185/65 R15 test than it did in this test.

Negative - None mentioned. Overall - The DUNLOP WINTER SPORT 5 achieves good results in all main criteria and thus secures a good overall grade and the rating "particularly recommendable".
3		Michelin Alpin 6 Scores: Dry - 8.0 Wet - 7.2 Snow - 7.2 Ice - 8.2 Rolling Resistance - 7.4 Noise - 6.4 Wear - 8.0 Overall - 7.4 Text: Positive - Balanced, good on all surfaces, especially good on ice, low wear. Negative - None mentioned. Overall - The MICHELIN ALPIN 6 achieves good results in all main criteria and thus secures a good overall grade with the rating "particularly recommended".
4		Yokohama BluEarth Winter V906 Scores: Dry - 7.4 Wet - 6.8 Snow - 6.8 Ice - 7.2 Rolling Resistance - 8.2 Noise - 6.2 Wear - 7.0 Overall - 6.8 Text: Positive - Good on dry roads, low fuel consumption. Negative - Weaknesses on wet roads and snow (devaluation.) Overall - The YOKOHAMA BluEarth*Winter V906 is precise in the dry and also has low fuel consumption. In the wet and on snow-covered roads, it performs slightly below average in relation to the test field, which is why it is rated as just satisfactory. Overall, the YOKOHAMA received the rating "recommended".
5		Bridgestone Blizzak LM005 Scores: Dry - 8.4 Wet - 8.0 Snow - 6.6 Ice - 7.2 Rolling Resistance - 7.8 Noise - 5.2 Wear - 7.0 Overall - 6.6 Text: Positive - Very good on dry roads (top mark), good on wet roads. Negative - Weaknesses on Snow (devaluation.) Overall - The performance of the BRIDGESTONE BLIZZAK LM005 on snow-covered roads is not sufficient to achieve a good overall result. Compared to the test field, its performance in the snow was only rated as satisfactory - which also led to the downgrading of the overall rating. The recommendation for the tire is therefore: "recommended".
6		Kleber Krisalp HP3 Scores: Dry - 6.2 Wet - 6.4 Snow - 8.4 Ice - 7.6 Rolling Resistance - 8.4 Noise - 6.4 Wear - 7.0 Overall - 6.2 Text: Positive - Good on snow and ice, low fuel consumption. Negative - Weaknesses on dry and wet roads (devaluation.) Overall - The KRISALP HP3 adhesive shows slight weaknesses both in the dry and in the wet, which lead to a satisfactory rating. Despite the good snow and ice properties, the final ADAC rating for the adhesive is "recommended".
7		GT Radial WinterPro2 Scores: Dry - 6.6 Wet - 6.0 Snow - 6.4 Ice - 7.8 Rolling Resistance - 7.2 Noise - 6.4 Wear - 7.0 Overall - 6.0 Text: Positive - Good on ice. Negative - Weaknesses on snow, weaknesses on dry and wet roads (devaluation.) Overall - The GT RADIAL WINTERPRO2 shows weaknesses on dry and wet roads as well as on snow. In all three criteria, he does not get more than a satisfactory rating. Despite the good ice properties, the ADAC verdict for the WINTERPRO2 is "recommended".
10		Toyo Observe S 944. Scores: Dry - 7.8 Wet - 5.8 Snow - 6.4 Ice - 8.0 Rolling Resistance - 6.4 Noise - 6.0 Wear - 8.0 Overall - 5.8 Text: Positive - Good on dry roads, good on ice. Negative - Highest fuel consumption, weaknesses on snow and wet roads (devaluation.) Overall - The TOYO TIRES Observe S944 shows good properties on dry roads, on ice and in wear resistance. In the wet and on snow, however, it performs below average compared to the rest of the test field, which leads to a satisfactory final rating. Overall, the TOYO Observe S944 is still classified as "recommended".

Negative - Weaknesses on dry and wet roads (devaluation.) Overall - The Nokian Tires WR Snowproof shows weaknesses both in the dry and in the wet, in both criteria it is rated as satisfactory. Despite the still good snow and ice properties, it received the rating "recommended", since the satisfactory performance in the wet led to a devaluation of the overall grade.
12		Uniroyal WinterExpert Scores: Dry - 5.4 Wet - 6.4 Snow - 8.6 Ice - 8.4 Rolling Resistance - 9.0 Noise - 6.2 Wear - 7.0 Overall - 5.4 Text: Positive - Very low fuel consumption (top mark), good on snow and ice. Negative - Weaknesses on wet and dry roads (devaluation.) Overall - The UNIROYAL WinterExpert shows weaknesses both in the dry and in the wet, in both criteria it is rated as satisfactory. Despite the good snow and ice properties, it received the rating "recommended", since the satisfactory performance in the dry led to a devaluation of the overall grade.

Despite the good snow and ice properties, it received the final rating of "recommended", since the satisfactory performance in the dry led to a devaluation of the overall grade.
14		Falken Eurowinter HS01 Scores: Dry - 5.0 Wet - 7.4 Snow - 8.0 Ice - 7.6 Rolling Resistance - 7.0 Noise - 6.6 Wear - 7.0 Overall - 5.0 Text: Positive - Good on snow and ice. Negative - Weaknesses on dry roads (devaluation.) Overall - The FALKEN Eurowinter HS01 shows weaknesses on dry roads, which is why it is only just rated as satisfactory overall. He can convince in all other main criteria, but due to his pronounced lack of dryness, he does not get more than the rating “recommended” overall.
15		Cooper WM SA2 Scores: Dry - 4.6 Wet - 6.8 Snow - 6.6 Ice - 7.2 Rolling Resistance - 7.2 Noise - 6.2 Wear - 5.0 Overall - 4.6 Text: Positive - Good on ice. Negative - Weaknesses on snow and wet roads, highest wear, significant weaknesses on dry roads (devaluation.) Overall - The COOPER TIRES WM-SA2+ shows clear weaknesses on dry roads, which is why it does not get more than a sufficient rating in this criterion. In addition, there are (slight) weaknesses in the wet and in the snow. When it comes to wear, the tire performs just about satisfactorily. Thus, the COOPERTIRES is at best “recommended with reservations”.
